A bit about me. I left Canada for the United States in 2004 to begin a PhD in agricultural and resource economics at the University of California, Davis. After a short postdoc at the University of California Ag Issue Center, I joined the department of economics at Iowa State University in 2009 as an assistant professor. I was promoted to associate professor in 2015. I left Iowa in 2019 to return to Canada and join the team of economists at Farm Credit Canada (FCC). In October 2022, I left FCC and make the leap to start my own business as an economic consultant.

My career path has allowed me to acquire a vast experience in the fields of agriculture and food economics. I’ve published scientific articles about agricultural policies, international trade, the economics of biofuels and the economics of food safety. I’ve worked as an expert in trade disputes at the WTO about red meat labeling (M-COOL), tuna labeling (dolphin safe tuna) and chicken trade (India-US). As part of my work at FCC, I’ve followed closely and modeled ag and food markets, I wrote regularly about the Canadian dairy sector and gave several economic talks.

Since offering my services as an economic consultant, I have had the opportunity to act as an expert in various commercial and legal disputes. I have also applied my expertise to analyze supply management issues, model agricultural markets, and estimate econometric models.
